I deployed ConnectionManager(3.6) on another PC different to OpenFire.Then I tried to connect to CM with Pandion 2.6.106 but always failed.Alternatively I tried Spark 2.6.3 to connect to CM and I got success! But I need to connect Pandion to CM now!

I don't know where the issue lies in, OpenFire,ConnectionManager, or Pandion.

Can anyone help?

Issue in Setting up a load Balancer in front of openfire cluster

Hi All,

I am trying to set up a load balancer(HAProxy) in front of openfire cluster but I am stuck in configuring the load balancer tool.

Below is my set up:

1) Two openfire (3_7_1) servers in cluster sharing one centralized MYQSL.

2) Oracle coherence framework and openfire clustering plug-in is used to establish openfire cluster.

3) Trying to use HAProxy as load balancer ( I have configured XMPP servers in HAProxy config file)

4) Smack client API to connect server.

5) cluster is working fine.

please let me know how smack code can talk to load balancer and load balancer can forward the request to XMPP servers.

How to configure xmpp domain name in code and connect some user through smack api code. I am not using any xmpp client such as pidgin etc... i am writing my own client by using smack API.

Quick repose very much appreciated.

How to integrate sparkweb within wordpress site?

Hi

1. Has anyone any experience or ideas to contribute toa target of integrating sparkweb within a wordpress site?

2. Creating a common login for the IM service and the wordpresss login system?

3, 2 above somewhat easier as all users are only allowed to communicate via the same openfire server and receive IM from members of our own user group.

4, Sparkweb pages to appear in a window within a wordpress page.

Thanks in advance

Hello All,

I recently upgraded my install from 3.7.1 to 3.8.0 and after the upgrade I upgraded to the updated version of the archiving plugin as well. I now notice that conversations are no longer being archived even when configured to do so. Is there a link I can download the old archiving plugin?

Thanks,

"Server has closed the connection" error

Greetings,

We have been struggeling with a certain issue with our openfire server for a while, and it seems to be getting worse. We have 2 new users that are trying to connect to our server, but they get a "Server closed the connection" on Pidgin and a similar error on Trillian. We are using 3.8.0 on Linux, and are on the latest version of both Pidgin and Trillian. Here is the debug from pidgin where the error starts:

The problem fixes itself after we reboot. I can log in as the new users with no problem, but it seems like once we get more connections, it shuts them out again. I have increased the cache for Roster and vCard, but I am still getting these errors.

Synthetica LnF

Hello,

Just a question to anyone who remembers... why the move away from Synthetica LnF to Substance? I can see in the code where Synthetica was replaced and it appears to have been over a licencing issue of some kind. Does anyone remember the specifics?

I really like what Synthetica has to offer, especially over JTattoo (I like Substance more than JTattoo right now, but the Substance we use does not appear to be maintained anymore - version 6.1).

From the Synthetica website, it looks like opensource projects can use it royalty free, the question comes in since Spark and Openfire are repackaged into some commercial applications, would they be forced to disable/remove it before packaging? What an inconvinience if so...

Thanks!

Can anyone suggest a book that might be helpful to a newbie trying to get his head around the whole OpenFire IM project?

This is my first encounter with an open source app and have been spoiled by the documentation that comes with most applications.

I am not a techie but really would like to get a handle on how the OpenFire/Spark system works.

I did find one book... Openfire Administration: A practical step-by-step guide to rolling out a secure Instant Messaging service over your networkby Mayank Sharma on Amazon.  I was hoping to find an OpenFire For Dummies type of book, but haven't seen anything like that.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Thanks!

openfire and Osx Adium

Hi,

I have a question about Openfire.

We use Windows and OSX clients in our network.

With Windows and Spark, all seems to work correctly.

Wit OSX we have always the same problem after some hours or days. After the client going idle for several times, the client goes offline with the message from Adium: "XMPP Session Conflict". After this its not possible for the Client to reconnect, until i restart the full Openfire Server.

Always if i have to do this, there is a "hanging" Java instance, wich i have to kill manually.

After killing all and restarting Openfire, all works again for some hours.

What can be the Problem here ?

Another thing is, i see always some connections to the internet, wich are blocked from ou firewall, because we use a Proxy for outgoing traffic.

IPs are: 216.93.246.16 and 207.223.240.70

Thanks for help

Bom dia,

Caros amigos.

Durante uma conversa entre usuários, as mensagens são enviadas por ambos, porém não conseguem ser visualizadas por um deles.

Procedimentos tomados;

Desinstalei e instalei o Spark 2.6.3. (Volta ao normal por um tempo, mas sem resultado, continua com o mesmo problema)

Desinstalei e instalei novamente o java. ( Volta ao normal por um tempo, mas depois o problema volta)

Obs.: Notei que esse problema ocorre com dois usuários, independente se eles conversam entre eles, ou com outras pessoas.

Se alguém poder me ajudar, desde já lhes agradeço!

BILLY MAYS HERE.....

Can anyone provide directions on autostarting Openfire on boot with Ubuntu 11?

I installed from the tarball, so my OF directory is at /opt/openfire/bin .

I have done quite a bit of searching, but can't quite figure out how to start OF similar to how you would start a service in Windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hazelcast Clustering and 2 Nodes

$

Hello everyone,

I am having a rough time trying to get this working right. Here is my setup:

IM01 (192.168.70.71 (Primary NIC) 192.168.70.73 (Microsoft NLB (Private)))

IM02 (192.168.70.72 (Primary NIC) 192.168.70.74 (Microsoft NLB (Private)))

NLB Cluster (192.168.70.75)

OpenFire 3.8.0

HazelCast 1.0.4 (Downloaded using the OpenFire Plugin Menu)

As noted above, I have two NICs per server. Both servers are virtual.

Both have Microsoft Network Load Balancing setup to share their Private NIC to create the NLB Cluster. Both NLBs are configured to use Multicasting as there are issues with Unicast and VMWare vitualization. I want the NLB cluster IP (192.168.70.75) to be the address that the end users connect to to connect to the IM Cluster. The obvious reason is to allow redundant IM servers with one address for the users to connect to. If a serer goes down, no big deal the IM server is still up.

With that being said, my current setup (hazelcast-cache-config.xml) is:

IM01:

        <port auto-increment="true">5701</port>

        <join>

            <multicast enabled="false"> <!-- Used for multicasting auto detection. -->

                <multicast-group>224.2.2.3</multicast-group>

                <multicast-port>54327</multicast-port>

            </multicast>

            <tcp-ip enabled="true"> <!-- Used for Direct TCP traffic to other nodes. -->

                <hostname>IM01</hostname>

                <hostname>IM02</hostname>

                <interface>192.168.70.73</interface>

                <interface>192.168.70.74</interface>

            </tcp-ip>

            <aws enabled="false"/> <!-- Used for EC2 Auto Discovery -->

        </join>

        <interfaces enabled="true">

            <interface>192.168.70.73</interface>

            <public-address>192.168.70.75</public-address>

        </interfaces>

IM02:

        <port auto-increment="true">5701</port>

        <join>

            <multicast enabled="false"> <!-- Used for multicasting auto detection. -->

                <multicast-group>224.2.2.3</multicast-group>

                <multicast-port>54327</multicast-port>

            </multicast>

            <tcp-ip enabled="true"> <!-- Used for Direct TCP traffic to other nodes. -->

                <hostname>IM01</hostname>

                <hostname>IM02</hostname>

                <interface>192.168.70.73</interface>

                <interface>192.168.70.74</interface>

            </tcp-ip>

            <aws enabled="false"/> <!-- Used for EC2 Auto Discovery -->

        </join>

        <interfaces enabled="true">

            <interface>192.168.70.74</interface>

            <public-address>192.168.70.75</public-address>

        </interfaces>

As you can see, I have both IM01 & IM02 pointed to their NLB interface and the public address is the NLB cluster address.

I get the following in the OpenFire window. Clustering isn't working. When IM01 is online the user can connect to 192.168.70.75. Even if IM02 is online, the user can't connect when IM01 is offline. The Clustering page on the OpenFire admin console only shows the respective server, not both servers.

Here is the OpenFire text (Note the red text. The blue text shows it has started.):

IM01 (When IM02 is offline)

My apologies for the long post and all the log information. But, as you can see, neither server really connects with the other on the cluster.

How can I resolve the red above and allow redundant connections from 192.168.70.73 &192.168.70.74 and allow the users to connect to a single IP: 192.168.70.75.

If Microsoft Network Load Balancing isn't supported, can you use the public IP noted in the config to allow all users to connect to the cluster HazelCast creates?

Lastly, how can I enable IPv4 since it is preferred?

Thank you very much for your support,

Johnathan

Process for committing a couple of fixes?

Hello all,

My colleagues and I have been using Openfire for a while now but doing some development on a project involving the offline message store introduced us to OF-163 (Rosters with > 1000 items don't work well in Oracle) and OF-397 (Do not deliver offline messages to clients with a negative priority).

I've got fixes for both these issues (we're presently running on our own build incorporating them), both of which are quite simple changes, and was wondering what the best way to commit them back is.  Do I e-mail the diffs to a contributor, list them here, or something else?

We also came across an issue in the OfflineMessageStore class.  Currently, OfflineMessageStore does not store messages with empty bodies unless they are PubSub events.  Our problem was that clients were sending MUC invites with empty bodies, that contained all the information needed by the recipient user, but these messages weren't getting stored offline.  We've changed our branch to allow the offline message store to store empty MUC invites, just as it does PubSub events.  The code change is again quite simple.

Ideally, I'd like to get this change commited as well, but without a pre-existing Jira I'm less sure if the change would be acceptable, and I'd appreciate some advice if possible.

Thanks for reading,

Simon

server is not sending Subscription approval notification

I am not be able to receive Subscription approval notification from the server when owner approves the subscriber

following is the flow i have run the test in PSI xml.

A request for subscription

<iq type='set'    from='88f37b90@example.com'    to='pubsub.example.com'    id='sub1'>  <pubsub xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub'>    <subscribe        node='fdf72c24/loc'        jid='88f37b90@example.com'/>  </pubsub></iq>

immideate reply to subscriber

<iq from="pubsub.example.com" type="result" id="sub1" to="88f37b90@example.com"<pubsub xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub"><subscription node="fdf72c24/loc" subscription="pending"
 subid="Howb8IplBlxCYKm1b9jb53RO909v09RF7QHJn3M0" jid="88f37b90@example.com"><subscribe-options/></subscription></pubsub></iq>

owner will get following response from server i.e. a request for subscription autorization

<message from="pubsub.example.com" to="fdf72c24@example.com" id="xxx"><x xmlns="jabber:x:data" type="form"><title>PubSub subscriber request</title><instructions>Use the following form to approve or deny the subscription request.</instructions><field type="hidden" var="FORM_TYPE"><value>http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub#subscribe_authorization</value></field><field type="hidden" var="pubsub#subid"><value>Howb8IplBlxCYKm1b9jb53RO909v09RF7QHJn3M0</value></field><field type="text-single" label="Node ID" var="pubsub#node"><value>fdf72c24/loc</value></field><field type="jid-single" label="Subscriber Address" var="pubsub#subscriber_jid"><value>88f37b90@example.com</value></field><field type="boolean" label="Allow this JID to subscribe to this pubsub node?" var="pubsub#allow"><value>0</value></field></x></message>

Now owner will approve the request by setting pubsub#allow by 1

<message to="pubsub.example.com" id="xxx"><x xmlns="jabber:x:data" type="submit"><field type="hidden" var="FORM_TYPE"><value>http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub#subscribe_authorization</value></field><field type="hidden" var="pubsub#subid"><value>Howb8IplBlxCYKm1b9jb53RO909v09RF7QHJn3M0</value></field><field type="text-single" var="pubsub#node"><value>fdf72c24/loc</value></field><field type="jid-single" var="pubsub#subscriber_jid"><value>88f37b90@example.com</value></field><field type="boolean" var="pubsub#allow"><value>1</value></field></x></message>

but the issue is once i send the approved request for subscription authorization  , i am not be able to get the notification from server saying that

the node is subscribed to a requested subscriber.

as accroding to XEP-0060 protocol following stanza must be received when owner sends the possitive approval to server but i am not getting any approval from server to the owner.

Get PEP event using asmack

I've been trying to listen for PEP event from my server using asmack. I modify the avatar event publish event a little bit on my server side. My android client didn't show the packet on the debugger. I'm using asmack library from https://github.com/Flowdalic/asmack/

<message from='jenggotz@192.168.202.121' to='jenggotz@192.168.202.121/2346608911361516490425217' type='headline'>

    <event xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub#event'>

        <items node='urn:xmpp:avatar:metadata'>

            <item id='111f4b3c50d7b0df729d299bc6f8e9ef9066971f'>

                       <metadata xmlns='my:avatar:metadata'>0,0,0</metadata>

            </item>

        </items>

    </event>

    <addresses xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/address'>

        <address type='replyto' jid='jenggotz@192.168.202.121/2346608911361516490425217'/>

    </addresses>

</message>

I've registered the provider for the event before connecting.

ProviderManager pm = ProviderManager.getInstance();
PEPProvider prov = new AwawaProvider();
prov.registerPEPParserExtension("urn:xmpp:avatar:metadata",new AvatarProvider());
pm.addExtensionProvider("event","http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub#event",prov);

AwawaProvider is just an extension of PEPProvider, but I call android logging function on parseExtension.

publicclass AwawaProvider extends PEPProvider {    @Override    public PacketExtension parseExtension(XmlPullParser arg0) throws Exception {        Log.e("PEPAWA", "AS");        return super.parseExtension(arg0);    }}

But the log didn't show it and my stanza didn't shown on the debug log. So I conclude that I don't register my provider in the right way. When I try to get ExtensionProviders on ProviderManager, it shows that I already put it in. Did I miss something in my code?

Thanks in advance

User can change their profile bypassing all settings if they have an avatar.

Greetings. Running Openfire 3.7.1 with Spark 2.6.3

In "Client management" i've set "Allow users to change their profiles and avatars" to disabled.

Room has "Allow Occupants to change nicknames" set to disable.

Still if a user has an avatar he can right-click it and access "Profile information" and change his nickname in MUC.

Major failure or am I not getting something?
