Groups and Inviting??

I am currently testing the Spark client,soley for functionaly as we are looking for an immediate replacement for MSN. I have looked around and tested somethings in Spark but can't seem to sort out some issues with groups and shared converstations..So please correct me if needed.

From what can gather MSN groups are Conferences in Spark.

Here is are some cases for how we use MSN...

  • I have a group for each department Support, Hardware, Admin,. Emergency... members can be in some or all these groups. The moment one member of the group posts into that group, all members are notified and can then comment as well.This does not seem to be the same for Conferences as members must first join the conference to see the chat activity within the group.

Is there group functionality in Spark like this?

  • I start a individual chat with one user. Over the course of the chat session we need to "invite" another user to our conversation. In MSN I could just click the invite icon and the other user woud be prompted to join the converstion.

Can Spark do anything like this?

I have only been working with Spark for a couple days and so far I REALLY like what I see. I am sure I will have more questions but will start with these.

Thanks,

Java Memory with Monitoring Plugin

We've been running an Openfire server for a year now with about 100 users. During that time we've been using the monitoring plugin, but now we're having an issue with java memory maxing out from all of the archived chats.

Right this second (after a server restart because it froze) we're at 241.26 MB of 247.50 MB (97.5%) used.

Over the past week the server has been getting hung up a few times a day, every day.

So far I've done the xmpp.pep.enabled = false suggestion I've seen in other threads, but that's all I've been able to find.

Any help would be appreciated greatly!!

RedFire Phono - Help Needed, Will Pay

Looking for someone with experience in RedFire Phono. I am trying to get the system up and running for a voice chat on my website but have received nothing but headache trying to get it to work. (And I have very little system admin knowledge)

I have been able to send out calls to the standard sip@mouselike.org number and connect, but am unable to connect to two IDs on the same server. (I.E. Open up two browsers and copy the ID off of one page into the other and connect a call - It will just ring on one browser and not receive the call on the other). It should also be noted calling from one browser to another browser this is something that I CAN do on the Phono website see here (http://s.phono.com/releases/0.5/samples/kitchen-sink/www/index.html).

I'd really like to get this set up so I can integrate chatting into my websites chatrooms.

If you think you can help let me know the total est $ or an hourly rate.

Someone please help!!!!!!

Something wrong with xmpp.igniterealtime.org

It seems that i'm able to login once, but if i log out i'm then unable to login again. Spark is saying that user or password is wrong. Some other clients say, that this user is maybe already logged on, which seems a cause. Looks like my session is not terminated on the server and my new login can't kick it out. After a while i'm able to login again, but just one time. Anyone else seeing this?

Hello,

I just start using openfire and asmack jar, i was able to do most of the work on the app expect i am stuck with one adding groups. I will add a button in the app as group where user can add a name to the group and invite his firends to chat. Whenever he comes back to the app he can see this group and directly go there and chat. The message he will send needs to go to everyone in the group.

I have tried to create a shared group from the app through code but nothing worked. I was able to create a roster group but this will be only for the user who created it wont be shared among others in that. Can you guys please help me create this shared group.

Sparkweb SSL/TLS Help

$

Hi - Im hoping someone can help me or direct me to the correct docuements regard the issue that I am trying to figure out for over 2 weeks (its driving me crazy).  I've installed Openfire v3.6.4 with the latest SparkWeb files on Debian Lenny however when I try to change 'client connection security' to 'required' I receive a "TLS was required by the server and connection was never secured. Closing connection" when accessing SparkWeb.  I've used both the default openfire generated SSL certs and I've generated my own via our inhouse CA and imported the CA cert and private key into the /usr/share/openfire/resources/security/truststore.  I've also modified sparkweb's index.html file to:

return {
        server: "[our server ip]",
        bindPath: "/http-bind/",
        port: "7443",
        connectionType: "https",
        autoLogin: "false"
        policyFileURL: "xmlsocket://[our server ip]:5229"
     };

The regular 5222 socket unencrypted connection work fine however we cannot deploy sparkweb without encryption. At the moment apache is configured to use the same SSL cert in Openfire to secure the https connection however this does not secure TCP 5222 and password can be read easily using wireshark.  I would be extremely grateful for any help.  Thanks.

Hi,

i installed a new Debian 6.0.6 and after that i do these steps

  1. download this: http://www.igniterealtime.org/downloads/download-landing.jsp?file=openfire/openf ire_3.7.1_all.deb
  2. apt-get install default-jre-headless
  3. dpkg -i *.deb
  4. /etc/init.d/openfire start

I get now response, no status, no browser response with http://192.168.0.55:9090 (55 is the IP of the VM Debian installation)

i take a look at the documentation here (http://www.igniterealtime.org/builds/openfire/docs/latest/documentation/install- guide.html) but there is no hint to install under debian.

can anybody help me to install this under debian squeeze?

Lars

Hey guys!

I'm trying to implementing a plugin using RESTEasy but i can't access my webservice url. I can deploy my plugin without an error.

Here is what i did:

web-custom.xml

<web-app>     <context-param>        <param-name>javax.ws.rs.Application</param-name>        <param-value>testapp.openfire.TestApplication</param-value>    </context-param>      <listener>        <listener-class>org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.server.servlet.ResteasyBootstrap</listener-class>    </listener>     <servlet>        <servlet-name>Resteasy</servlet-name>        <servlet-class>org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.server.servlet.HttpServletDispatcher</servlet-class>    </servlet>     <servlet-mapping>        <servlet-name>Resteasy</servlet-name>        <url-pattern>/plus/*</url-pattern>    </servlet-mapping></web-app>

And the class that represents my web service:

@Path("/user")publicclass UserResource {     @GET    @Path("/teste")    @Produces({MediaType.TEXT_PLAIN})    public String teste(){        System.out.println("HERE WE ARE");        return"test";    } }

The class that implements Plugin

publicclass TestPlugin implements Plugin {         @Override    publicvoid initializePlugin(PluginManager manager, File pluginDirectory) {        System.out.println("START");    }     @Override    publicvoid destroyPlugin() {        System.out.println("DESTROY");    }}

What's wrong?

Can i use REST webservices or i need to use Servlets to interact with clients?

Thanks in advance.

Openfire 3.7.1 - Emojis in MUC kill chat connection

Hi!

When you send an Emoji character to a MUC chat room (don't know if this applies to "normal" chats, too) from your iPhone to a Openfire 3.7.1 server the connection is closed by the server.

Similar report under http://community.igniterealtime.org/message/218253#218253 and in consequence as issue http://issues.igniterealtime.org/browse/OF-455 but due to the age of the thread, the different version and the different stacktrace I thought it might be not directly related.

Stacktrace for the error:

Installed Openfire on RedHat Server - Spark Client can't find server

$

Good day.

I have installed openfire on a redhat server. I used the 'basic' method of installing - no external database & no LDAP.

I currently cannot connect my spark client (from another machine) to the openfire server. I also cannot get to the admin console from another pc. However, I am able to log in with spark on the server using localhost as server and admin console using 127.0.0.1:9090.

Here are a few questions that may help troubleshoot:

1. Should the Server Name be the same as the server's Host Name?

2. Does it matter that the server and clients are on different subnets? i.e. server: xxx.xxx.xx.xx    client: xxx.xxx.yy.yy

3. On the spark client, under Server should I type the Server Name or Host Name (if they are different)?

For what it's worth, I've tried:

- different combinations in the server field

- manually pointed the client to the server's IP Address.

- checked, and verified that ports are open on server

- changed the server name field on openfire from servername.domain.com to servername

Openfire plugins not unloading

$

I am working on writing an openfire plugin, but ran into an issue when attempting to load a new version via the web console.   I am not able to unload any plugins from the console - they all hang when deleting the jars within the lib directory for the plugin.  This includes the search plugin downloaded from this site, as well as a trivial one that I created that does nothing - it still hangs and the jar is locked until the server is restarted.

I thought this was an issue with my code and holding on to some class (because of static instances, etc), but this is not the case when the entire plugin is nothing more than two empty methods - see below.  This

---------------------

package com.tdkc.openfire.xmind.collaboration.server;
