Trouble with adjusting clients to read only

Hello,

 

my name is David and I'm very new to spark and openfire. Last week we shared the spark client to our users and now we have the problem that some Users are spaming the others, but i must not block them. They have to receive the broadcast messages of the other users but shouldnt write some.

 

Can't find any options for that and im little bit helpless with the code.

 

We have roundabout 300 Spark clients in Use. All up to date and the newest Openfire.

 

Any advice? :-(

mein Name ist David und mir ist Spark und Openfire ziemlich neu. Wir haben letzte Woche die Client-Installationen an die User ausgerollt und haben nun das Problem, dass einige User andere vollschreiben obwohl diese nur lesen dürften. Ich suche deswegen nach einem Weg diese User auf "Read-Only" zu setzen.

Leider habe ich keine Einstellung zur Beschränkung gefunden und bin leider auch nicht fit um den Code zu bearbeiten.

 

Wir haben ungefähr 300 User mit Spark. Spark und Openfire sind auf dem neusten Stand.

 

Habt Ihr einen Rat für mich?

Logins failing

Our environment

3.7 on a linux machine, connecting to a windows domain.

 

Been working brilliantly for many years now, little things here with memory and other items but nothing that was not solved mostly with a reboot.

 

Today however no new logins are being accepted.  My admin account can not login to administer anything. 

 

We are in the midst of putting in and removing domain controllers.  Though we have not removed the last old one yet.  First one was removed a month ago.

 

I am betting that i have a link to the last DC in the config for open fire, but i dont know where or how to access it.  It should still be responding, but its not for wome reason, and we would need to change it anyway.

 

My linux guy has left us long ago, and i know enough to be dangerous to myself lol

i was looking thru the linux admin guide for set up but its all greek to me. 

 

can anyone point me in the right direction.

La consola de openfire no inicia

Hola,

 

Estoy tratando de instalar openfire sobre un server elastix 2.3 el servicio se habilita en la pestaña IM y realizo la configuracion pero cuando termino y me dice que vaya a la consola pero cuando lo hago me regresa ala configuraci´´on. Ya reinicie el servidor, detube el servicio del openfire pero aun sigue el error.

FastPath Errors Out After Installing Java 7 Update 11

I've had Openfire 3.70 and FastPath working fine for years. Yesterday after a Java security update, I'm getting now this error from the code that is on our website:

Erro ao transmitir arquivos entre clientes spark

Boa noite pessoal,

 

Estou tentando transmitir arquivos entre clientes spark, Interno/Externo e diz que não foi possível, porém não são todas, alguns clientes externos funcionam sem problemas, transmitem arquivos normalmente. Tentei criar uma VPN a VPN está ON funciona para todos os serviços porém estes clientes não conseguem transmitir arquivos ou recerber.

 

Lembrando:

 

tenho todas as portas liberadas e add ao meu SERVER OPENFIRE, quer dizer pelo menos acho que tenho, 5222 5223 7777 entre outras, Tenho IP FIXO, tanto que alguns clientes logam sem problema...

How to avoid Openfire jabber server from authenticating usernames with ' character againts an ldap server

I have an Openfire jabber server v3.7.1 authenticating users against an Microsoft Active Directory, if the username have a ' character like "pérez" Openfire allows the authentication and create an account pérez other than the existing account perez, getting an user with two different account name.

 

 

LDAP ignores ' character when it's going to authenticate an user, I would like to control that behavior in Openfire before it ask for a bind operation against the LDAP server.

Integrating 64 bit Java(ver. 1.7) with Openfire.......

Hello, first let me say thank you for a fantastic community and forum here. I've been able to search around here and find answers to almost every question I've had so thank you very much. So here's my issue now though, I have a Windows 2008 64 bit OS server with 8gbs of ram and a quad-core processor. However Openfire only wants to read the JRE that it installs. That version is a 32 bit version and is only 1.6.xxx. I would like to use the 64 bit version which is currently Java7 I've read around on here quite a bit and although there is a little information on it, most of what I've found is quite out-dated. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to successfully migrate to the 64 bit Java. As I mentioned I have 8gbs of ram and half of it is completely wasted as teh 32 bit runtime environment will not read past 4gbs. This is confirmed when I create a VMOPTIONS file and change the java heap memory. If I attempt to set it at say 4096mbs, which is completely fine as nothing else runs on that server, it will send an error back telling me that the Java machine can not accept these parameters or something along those lines. I even took out the jre that comes with openfire and put in the jre7 and then edited the folder names to match up with the original jre that comes with openfire but then i get an error saying my JVM is corrupt. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks again and have a great day everyone.

Openfire+LDAP ( Erro no login )

Olá Galera,

 

Estou com um problema na integração do openfire com o ldap. Faço toda a instalação(wizard) e testes do openfire com o ldap, não aparece erro algum. No primeiro acesso, acesso o admin console com um usuário (usúario do ldap definido como administrador na instalação) normalmente, aparecendo todos os usuários do ldap. Mas, depois, quando reinicio o servidor, vou logar novamente, aparece um erro dizendo que o usuário não existe. Depois disso, só conecto com o usuário e senha padrão do openfire (admin:admin), e nas configurações do servidor não vejo a conexão com o ldap, é como se não tivesse salvo as configurações anteriores.

 

Erro: "Login falhou: tenha certeza que seu usuário e senha estejam corretos e que você seja administrador ou moderador."

 

Agradeço desde já.

[MUC] using getJoinedRooms() for persistent rooms

Hi all,

 

I am probably missing smth regarding proper use of the API.

 

What I do is the following:

 

  1. Create a persistent room (by sending Conf form with muc#roomconfig_persistentroom set to true.
  2. Join it explicitly by calling join("somenick")
  3. Immediatelly after I call either
    1. MultiUserChat.getJoinedRooms(connection,myUserId+"/laptop" ); // laptop is the resource I use when doing login
    2. Or MultiUserChat.getJoinedRooms(connection,myUserId+"/somenick" );

 

In both cases I get nothing returned, but trying to trace the server (Tigase 5.0.0) I see the difference in the returned query results. For the 1st case I definitly see server returns the room's JID. For the second case it indeed returns nothing.

 

What am I doing wrong here, generally? Any help will be appreciated.

 

I have additional question - is there any way to query server for all the rooms a user is member of, regardless the resource string/nickname? Can it be done with smack?

3.8.0 Group issue?

For reals!  Just installed 3.7.2, then get a message on Sparks that 3.8.0 is out.  

 

But when I go to Group/User tab

Groups tab

Locate group

Enter in name for group sharing

Save Contact List

 

I got the attached error.

 

I have been testing 3.7.2 for a while and had not issues.  Today I decided to start building the official server, installed 3.7.2, some configs and was working. 

 

Then upgraded to 3.8.0.  Not sure if it was the upgrade or the install as i did not attempt the adding group thing until after the upgrade.

 

 

Thanks for the update!  Glad to see this is still moving forward.

LDAP group not showing up in list of groups

I know there was an issue in 3.8.0 but when I reverted back to 3.7.1 I noticed this is still happening.

 

Our setup is openldap and the group filter has posix mode on and the group filter is "(&(objectClass=posixGroup)(cn=*im-users))".  When I test the settings it correctly shows two groups: im-users and ext-im-users.  After restarting I go to User/Groups > Groups and Group Summary says Total Groups: 2 but only lists ext-im-users.  ext-im-users has no users in it right now and im-users has all employees in it (around 45 or so).  It worked at one point because I was able to choose the group and make it a shared group to all logged in users (this was setup several years ago).  Also in 3.7.1 it works correctly.  It didn't work in 3.8.0 but that was from a bug introduced in that version, so we're running 3.7.1 now.

 

How do I get both groups to show up in group summary page on the web interface? as it may end up being an issue later on.  Looking at error logs just shows a bunch of errors about VCard provider is read only.  Does anyone know why the group wouldn't show up in the list yet it's being counted?

We are working towards Spark sip support? Version 2.5.8 works well with a sip. 2.6.3 bad voice

Odd problem installing openfire 3.8.0

Current setup,  arm based qnap nas device running a modified linux os.  I have the arm based 1.6.0_32 Sun Microsystems Java HotSpot Embedded Client VM installed and openfire 3.7.1

 

openfire runs flawlessly in this configuration so if anyone wants to say openfire won't run on arm,  runs fine.

 

I have upgraded openfire using the gzip package,  followed instructions exactly.  and yes I'm working on the running copy verified from admin console to insure there wasn't a second copy hiding somewhere. openfire was upgraded to 3.8.0,  I preserved database, plugins save for admin console, conf folder and my security certs.

 

Now for the problem..  admin console still claims everything is 3.7.1 and I cannot figure out why,  I don't know if upgrade is missing a vital file,  or if admin interface is just lying to me, or what's going on.  yes I've restarted server since upgrade and yes openfire was shut down during upgrade.

 

any tips, pointers or hints would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I can not connect with AD in version 3.8.0

Good morning everyone!

 

I took thenew versionto doa clean install ofOpenfire.

 

First of all, I am performingthe operationon a server withWindows 2008R2.

 

I didthe installation withoutproblems, and startedthesetup ...I configured aconnection tomySQLServerdatabasealsowithout any problem.

 

The problemis happeningon theintegrationwith ActiveDirectory.

Fill inall the fieldscorrectly, andtest the settingsbuttondoes not work. (I've read in anothertopic onother usershaving this problem)

Confident thatfilledthe fields correctly, advanceto the next stepscreensthat areUserGroupMappingandMapping,notchangeanything andadvanceto the nextscreen.

 

In theAdministratorAccountscreenshows nothing, justa fieldfor me totell whichwill be theUserAdministrator. Itry toenter aUser,buta messagesaysnot found.

I believethenthat something isfailing inintegrationwith ActiveDirectory.

 

I'mwithmy environmentstoppedsince.

Chat features - send messages to every client logged doesn't work

Hello all,

 

Server: Openfire 3.7.1


I enabled this features:

 

route.all-resources - Enable routing of messages to base JID to    every client logged in with the same base JID (different resources)    and the same (highest) priority

 

When I am logged in from my PC and phone and session are both with the same priority(1) messages are not send to both devices, only to one.

 

So, I suppose this features doesn't work at all.

 

Any feedback and instruction are accepted.
