Windows 7, no audio alerts

I'm using spark version 2.6.3 on a Windows 7 32/64 bit machines, some with and without service pack 1.  I have no audio alerts on these machines, is there an issue with no audio on Windows 7 machines?   Any information or help would be greatly appreciated ..
